Consumers at the Heart of Digital Innovation

30 April to 1 May 2019 - Estoril, Portugal

The Consumers International Summit 2019 brought together diverse range of perspectives, with over 460 representatives from consumer groups, government, business and civil society coming together to learn from each other about the critical issues affecting consumers in our digitised and globalised world.

This once in four-year experience is the only event where the global consumer movement comes together in one place. This year we expanded the event to also include those who create digital products and services.

Together in Portugal, we created a space for an open exchange of ideas, attendee contributions, engagement and network opportunities. Going forward, we are excited to build on the new developments and relationships that emerged, turning ideas and inspiration into action.

Event Focus

We want to put consumers at the heart of digital innovation. At Summit 2019, we set out to catalyse change and, in doing so, create breakthroughs and innovations to benefit consumers across the globe.

Crucially at the Summit we asked: What could the future look like if we put consumers at the heart of digital innovation?

Together we explored the important issues for consumers living in a digital society and economy. Including,

  • What will consumer choice look like in the future digital economy?

  • Smart-by-default devices are becoming mainstream but most still lack the most basic data security provisions. What does truly smart look like from a consumer point of view?

  • Should consumers in less digitally developed countries be expected to accept access at any cost?

  • How can we make sustainability the easy choice for consumers?
